Olives 2nd Birthday Partay!

So we just had Olives 2nd birthday party at Exeter Street Hall in Brighton, its a cute hall that local residents are currently collectively buying so it can keep running :) You will also see my cake version of peppa pig, this was quite full on I can tell you but it got happily munched and Olive loved running up and down the hall with all her little friends.
So all that leaves is for me to wish you all a very MERRY CHRISTMAS, 2012 has gone in a flash and not without adventure, moving house...twice and working hard on I Drew This so now for a rest and ROLL ON 2013 Enjoy XXX

Had another great day on Saturday at the Fairy Tale Fair, so much great feedback about my designs and support for my show next year, it was exactly what I needed after a complete nightmare week with our no longer agent at Mysugarcube.

Birthday treats

I was lucky on my birthday and given some cash to spend guilt free, as I have mentioned before Brighton is filled to the brim with cool shops for nice treats.
I had a lovely couple of hours choosing some gorgeous things, the trim phone is my absolut ultimate favourite, I grew up using an avocado version and this one blows it out of the water!!
A much needed ' Glove & Hate' oven glove from Stuart Gardiner, classic casio gold watch from ebay, some of the BEST winter socks ever from Gap and a wicked denim shirt from H&M.
AMAZING...(Olives new word) x

halloween!!

hallo, I know I normally do the reveal on Fridays but I couldn't wait especially as I enjoyed halloween this year so much, I went with friends down to the beach last night and the sea was crazy rough, then we drank punch and told ghost stories whilst eating pumpkin spaghetti, it was perfect!
So this week I did the feet again and Rachel Fuller, fab childrens illustrator who happens to sit next to me in the studio played the body and the talented Beth Gunnell played this wicked pumpkin head.

Amazing!

This is the last game that I will post on the I Drew This blog all further illustrations will be posted straight onto www.flicknmix.blogspot.com.
I think you will agree this is amazing thanks to Dawn Machell of Pop-i-cok , Janine from Dilys treacle ( who was at the ladder club seminar I recently attended) and David from Custard Cards in Brighton for playing this week.
So next week I thought I would let the first person to let me know they would like to play decide on the theme...hmmm...who will it be...???

New blog.

Good morning I hope that you all have had lovely weekends, as you know I have started up what I was calling 'heads, shoulders, knees and toes' and we have already had 2 cool and quirky illustrations and I think it is such a fab game that I have started up a blog totally dedicated to it, I have renamed the blog flick'n'mix which is a bit easier to say and I have this week persuaded the lovely Dawn Machell from Pop-i-cok to play and the new theme is 'Butterflies', if you would like to put your work up against Dawn's let me know and I can send you further details :)

Number 2.

Oh wow I am loving this more and more, 5 o'clock this morning I woke up to discover the final piece from Moira and I nearly got up there and then to put them together I was so excited!
And how quirky is this weeks with my Dads geoscoperlous head, and a real fairy tale feel from both Steph at Ric Rac and Moira Millman, I love the ladybird shoes and desperately want a pair for Olive, just brilliant, thanks to all for playing and now just 3 more peeps for next weeks game...

My Dad.

This evening I thought I would post about my Dad who is taking part in this Fridays game, my Dad has always been an artist.
Dad left Newport College of Art in 1978 with a first class honours degree in Fine art where my mom also studied. From there he went onto the Slade School of Fine Art to complete his Masters degree. He exhibited regularly with Galerie Swart Amsterdam in 1980's and I have a vivid memory of standing next to him working on his geometric paintings wearing finger less gloves next to a mini heater.
That combined with my Moms work instilled in me my need to explore my own creativity.
My dad now lives in Majorca and has recently begun 2 of his own blogs Memobench, inspired by benches filled with memories for so many and Geoscoperlous born from his interest in seeing quirky images within nature.
Above are 2 of my favourite paintings I am lucky enough to own. Thanks Dad x

Ladder club seminar.

Last Thursday I went to Southend to attend the Ladder Club seminar organised by Lynn Tait of the Lynn Tait gallery. There were a number of speakers from the industry starting with the sucessful owners of Paper Salad and followed by Jeremy Corner from Blue eyed sun, Lynn Tait, Sharon Little from the GCA, Jakki Brown from Progressive Greetings magazine and lots more!
The day was jam packed full of information about how to start up and
I would highly recommend the seminar to those thinking of branching out.

HSKT Number 1.

Oh this really is too cool, here is the 1st heads, shoulders, knees and toes illustration!!!!
Armed with the theme of 'cats' Amy Underhill, Liz Mackay and myself have all come up with illustrations which just work brilliantly together!!
There is a definite orange theme going on here.
Thank you both Amy and Liz for helping to get this project up and running and we are now looking for more illustrators to continue the fun :)
If you would like to take part pop your name below and I will be in touch.
Next weeks theme is 'red' and we NEED 1 more illustrator to play with my dad and the fantastic Moira Millman...

Heads, shoulders, knees and toes.

Now I know that we are all super incredibly busy with our fabulous design lives however I thought it would be nice to have a bit of fun with our skills and play some games of what I am naming 'Heads, shoulders, knees and toes', essentially the game we used to play at school where one person draws a head folds the paper over leaving an indication of where the neck starts, next person draws a body, folds the paper over and the final person takes care of the legs and feet and what you are left with is a crazy mismatch of amusing and quirky characters in a lovely combo of all of our styles, does this make sense/ring any bells??
right now I am just seeing who would be interested in taking part, if you are then pop a comment below and your email and then I can send you some further details.

New beginnings.

hallo out there! we moved, again, all of us now including stig so now we can get back to some fun stuff. In amongst the chaos of unpacking yesterday and today I gave myself 2 hours sketchbook time in the garden, a good excuse to enjoy the sun spots and do something I havent done in a while. It has been exactly what I needed, an escape from the computer and with Olives broken crayons and pencils I explored and observed some of our beautiful nature.

Great weekend :)

Hallo!!! aah I have had the BEST weekend!!
It began with a smashing day at The Fairy Tale Fair organised by Claire Montgomery who did a smashing job promoting the fair, and it paid off so well, there was a steady flow of people and I received such lovely comments and support for my work which totally makes my quest more worth while and then on Sunday we got up early and took a trip to Goring on Sea, when we arrived it clouded over and we watched the lightening from the beach but eventually the clouds dispersed and we enjoyed the rest of the day in gorgeous sunshine aaahhh bliss, what have you all been up to?
I would love to hear...
